Postdoctoral Research Fellow Receives Marc Sanders Prize in Philosophy in the Media

 HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Marc Sanders Foundation awarded Paul Rezkalla, postdoctoral research fellow at Hillsdale College, a Marc Sanders Prize in “Philosophy in the Media” on Nov. 19, 2021.

The “Philosophy in the Media” program equips philosophers to increase the presence of philosophy in the media world by preparing them to be public philosophy writers.

“I’m very excited to represent Hillsdale alongside other distinguished fellows from elite institutions, like Princeton and Northwestern,” Rezkalla said. “Not only does this increase Hillsdale’s visibility on the academic map, but it’s also a positive witness for all the great work we do here in shaping students’ hearts and minds.”

Rezkalla became Arete Professorial Fellow at Hillsdale College in the fall of 2021. He is teaching a course in bioethics this semester.

For his undergraduate degree, Rezkalla attended New York University before receiving three master’s degrees — two Master of Arts degrees from the University of Birmingham in 2013 and St. John’s University in 2015, and one Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford in 2019. He received his Ph.D. at Florida State University in philosophy.

“He clearly has a deep and infectious passion for philosophy, and he’s thinking about some of the most significant issues that face our culture,” said Lee Cole, chairman and associate professor of philosophy at Hillsdale College. “It seems wholly appropriate that an organization committed to the relevance of philosophy for the sake of a healthy society would think highly of Dr. Rezkalla.”View a headshot of Rezkalla here.
