Biography

Dr. Paul Schmitt received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Hillsdale College in 2012 and his Ph.D. in chemistry from Purdue University in 2016. He taught chemistry at Wabash College in Indiana for eight years before beginning his appointment at Hillsdale College. Dr. Schmitt specializes in analytical and physical chemistry, and his research involves the use of nonlinear optical microscopy for the detection and analysis of crystallinity.

Dr. Schmitt lives just outside Hillsdale with his wonderful wife and children. Outside of the classroom and lab, he enjoys all too many hobbies, including fly fishing, collecting fine wine, cooking, rock climbing, and playing music.
