Hillsdale College Freedom Forum in Palm Beach Explores “Freedom and Western Civilization”
Attendees delved into the meaning of freedom from an interdisciplinary perspective.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted a Freedom Forum in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Jan. 9-10. Freedom Forums are two-day seminars on “Freedom and Western Civilization” which offer an introductory overview of the kind of education Hillsdale provides. They include six lectures by three Hillsdale College faculty members from the departments of politics, history, economics, or English.
The seminar took place at the Mariott Palm Beach Gardens. Speakers were Professor of Economics Ivan Pongracic Jr., Professor of Politics Kevin Portteus, and Professor of English David Whalen.
“The Freedom Forum in Palm Beach provided attendees with the opportunity to explore the meaning of freedom through the lenses of politics, economics, and literature,” said Peggy Youngs, senior director of lifelong learning. “Through the lectures and discussions, they got a taste of the classical liberal arts education that Hillsdale College provides.”
Hillsdale College Freedom Forums provide guests with lectures that delve into the meaning of freedom from an interdisciplinary perspective. The seminars cost $50 per attendee and are open to members of the public of all ages.
