Hillsdale College Hosts Award-Winning Pianist Peter Klimo
Klimo performed works by Liszt and Rachmaninov and gave a masterclass to four Hillsdale students.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Music Department hosted award-winning pianist Peter Klimo on Jan. 31. Klimo taught a masterclass for several piano students and gave a guest recital, which were both open to audience members from campus and the community.

Klimo’s recital included Liszt’s “Réminiscences de Don Juan” and Rachmaninov’s “Variations on a Theme of Corelli.”
Klimo also gave a piano masterclass for four Hillsdale piano students, which audience members from campus and the community were invited to observe. Klimo listened as each student performed a piano piece from memory and then coached them on ways to improve.
“Masterclasses are wonderful opportunities for participants and observers alike,” Tacke said. “They can range from specific technical information to broader aspects of style and music history. There is always something to learn, whether you play the instrument in question or not.”
A Hungarian-American pianist, Klimo is a prizewinner of the Bartok World Piano Competition, the Bösendorfer International Piano Competition, and the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. He is assistant professor of piano at California State University Fresno.
