Hillsdale College Holds Seminar on History on Film
The seminar explored four history-based films and what they have to teach us.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted its fourth Center for Constructive Alternatives seminar of the 2024-25 academic year March 2-6. The seminar, titled “History on Film,” explored four history-based films and what they have to teach us.

Following a showing of the movie “Reagan,” Kenneth L. Khachigian, author or “Behind Closed Doors: In the Room with Reagan & Nixon,” spoke on “The Ronald Reagan I Knew.”
“Reagan really wanted to do a lot of the things that Trump is doing now,” Khachigian said during Q&A. “I can’t tell you what he would say, but I think he would be envious of the way he’s cutting back. Reagan was prevented from doing a lot of the things that he really wanted to do. He wanted to make all those cuts. He was so tired of the bureaucracy.”
The seminar also featured showings of “October Sky,” “A Bridge Too Far,” and “Chariots of Fire,” with commentary from Homer Hickam, Victor Davis Hanson, and Titus Techera.
