Dr. Joseph Garnjobst, chairman and professor of classics, even leaves a bowl of fruit and chocolate for students to feast upon as they study.

Elizebeth Smith Friedman: Hillsdale Alumna and American Hero

Students in the Documentary and Filmmaking class, taught by Lecturer in Journalism Buddy Moorehouse, were given the reins to create their own documentary. In six weeks, students researched, wrote, produced, and screened their own documentary film on Elizebeth Smith Friedman, a 1915 Hillsdale alumna, and codebreaking American hero.

Painting a Pretty Picture: Karen Taylor Donmoyer, ’86, Has Fond Memories of Her Hillsdale Experience

Although running helped bring Karen Taylor Donmoyer, ’86, to Hillsdale College four decades ago, it was the overall experience that kept her there. She was proud to contribute to the 1982 women’s cross country team that won NAIA District 23 and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles.

Rachel Mohning Doty, ’97, loves calling Hillsdale home because its generations past and present work together to create a strong community. Rachel is accustomed to the close-knit, small-town life. It’s a life she wouldn’t trade; she learned great things, met her husband, and raised her family here in Hillsdale. For Rachel, Hillsdale is home.

Living the Island Life

Ben and Keren Casciani Ten Haaf, ’04, ’04, are living out their personal version of Fantasy Island. The couple owns and operates Lizzie Lu’s Island Retreat, a vacation home rental business with nearly 30 vacation home rental properties on Anna Maria Island, on Florida’s Gulf Coast near Bradenton, Florida.

Reminiscing in the Sunshine State

The Alumni National Tour event in Ft. Myers, Florida, turned into a mini-reunion for the Class of 1967. Four class members attended the gathering on January 15, and each had an interesting story to tell.
