Hillsdale fostered conversations with both the living and the dead that continue to shape the person I am today. Friendships with professors, peers, and the authors we read together challenged me to refine my habits of thought and heart. The College showed me that learning is friendship – with both the truth and those with whom you pursue it (or, shall I say, pursue Him). To learn, one must love. About
Born and raised in a small town in Minnesota, Juliana first learned about Hillsdale from a recent graduate who spoke highly of the academic rigor and deep friendship she found there. She was ultimately convinced to attend when her dad told her, “If you don’t go to Hillsdale, you might regret it for the rest of your life.” While at Hillsdale, she pursued a love of literature with her English major but enjoyed broadening her experience with classes in history, theatre, and classical education. Outside of class, Juliana was a resident assistant, sang with the Christ Chapel Choir, danced with the Swing Club, helped lead a Bible study, and worked as a student ambassador and a Writing Center tutor. Juliana loved her classes, but found that the best conversations occurred outside the classroom. Residence halls, the library, and professors’ living rooms harbored immense growth over the course of four years. Proving her dad right, she will be forever grateful for her time at Hillsdale. She graduated in 2024.
