Biography
Teaching in the Sport Studies Department at a liberal arts institution has been an incredible opportunity. Being in this role has reminded me to consider various topics from a more comprehensive point of view. My area of focus lies in our exercise science courses, and as a licensed physical therapist, I have enjoyed bringing realistic situations to a class setting. Studying the human body in the context of exercise is fascinating and I enjoy sharing the depth of the topic with my students. It’s generally unsurprising when one connects the exercise science discipline of study to the natural sciences, but social sciences and humanities also hold a great role in finding answers to this discipline’s questions. Hillsdale College students are also prepared to discuss and contemplate topics from these different viewpoints. As a result, they’ll come up with comprehensive thoughts pertinent to the subject.
The best part about my role at Hillsdale College is the opportunity to interact with, guide, and learn from the students. As I’ve gotten to know students on a personal level, one characteristic that sticks out to me is their genuine and substantial concern for the well-being of others. Many of the students I teach have personal and career passions to help other people and I enjoy my role in fostering those passions.
