The Rhetoric and Media department offers a broad-based education in the history, theory, and criticism of rhetoric and media in the Western liberal arts tradition. It seeks to convey to students a broad range of critical, contemporary, and historical perspectives necessary for understanding both the significance of the art of rhetoric in Western culture and the media environments which help give that culture its form.
