Arianna String Quartet Performs at Hillsdale College
Hillsdale College featured the quartet as part of its Professional Artist Series
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted the Arianna String Quartet for a performance on Feb. 15. The group performed a concert and taught a masterclass for Hillsdale College music students, which were both open to audience members from campus and the community.

“The Arianna String Quartet’s concert was brilliant, full of vivacity and expressive detail, and the performance of the Franck Quintet with Dr. Kuehler was especially powerful,” said Daniel Tacke, chairman and associate professor of music. “We were delighted to host these outstanding musicians and for them to work with our students during their stay.”
The concert included works by Joseph Haydn and Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as a performance of César Franck’s Piano Quintet in F minor featuring Hillsdale faculty member Daniel Kuehler, artist/teacher of collaborative piano.
The quartet also gave a masterclass for several Hillsdale College students. Members of the quartet listened to solo and chamber performances by the students and then coached them on ways to improve.
Formed in 1992, the Arianna String Quartet has performed throughout North America as well as in South America, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. The quartet has won multiple awards and collaborated with many of the world’s most celebrated musicians, including members of the Vermeer, Tokyo, Cleveland and Juilliard Quartets. Its live performances have been heard on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today,” and “Live from Music Mountain.”
This performance was the fourth installment of Hillsdale College’s Professional Artist Series for the 2024-2025 school year.
