Hillsdale College Announces August Halter Center Events
Upcoming events include a USPSA Level 1 Match and the Michigan State FITASC and Super Sporting Championships.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center will host several shooting sports events in August, including a USPSA Level 1 Match and the Michigan State FITASC and Super Sporting Championships.

Saturday, Aug. 1: USPSA Level 1 Match
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Ailes Range (Halter Center)
A classic USPSA Level 1 match, featuring ten stages. Lunch will be provided for all participants.

Michigan State FITASC and Super Sporting Championships
Friday, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 9 | Halter Center
This premier event will feature FITASC targets set by NSCA hall-of-famer Pat Lieske with more than $5,000 in prize money plus door prizes. The first 100 registered shooters will receive an event-exclusive Barepelt gun sock.

Saturday, Aug. 22: Concealed Pistol License Class
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Nimrod Complex Ailes Classroom (Halter Center)
This course satisfies the training requirement needed to obtain a Michigan Concealed Pistol License and focuses on the legal, moral, and practical responsibilities of concealed carry. Led by an experienced instructor teaching since 1993, students will cover firearm safety, defensive shooting fundamentals, safe storage, situational awareness, and interacting with law enforcement. Weekly Woman’s Pistol Practice
4-7 p.m. Thursdays | Aug. 6, 13, 20, and 27 | Ailes Range (Halter Center)
Women of all skill levels are invited to open range time in a welcoming environment designed for practice and skill development. Participants may come when they can and leave when they must but should arrive by 6:30 p.m.

USPSA Practice Matches
5-7 p.m. Wednesdays | Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26 | Ailes Range (Halter Center)
Shooters can hone dynamic pistol skills in a welcoming, low-pressure environment designed for both new and experienced participants. The weekly practice matches offer an opportunity to learn, build confidence, and improve skills alongside others in the shooting community.

The Halter Center is open Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday is reserved for members, and the public is welcome Wednesday through Saturday. The Center is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

About the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center
The Halter Center is a state-of-the-art shooting facility located five miles from the Hillsdale College campus. The Center boasts 125 range acres, four international skeet fields, a 25-station sporting clays course, eight American trap fields, five international bunkers, an action shooting range, an enclosed and climate-controlled five-stand range, an international archery range, and a 62,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor rifle and pistol building. The Center is also home to the AcuSport Lodge and Grille and six cottages to accommodate overnight lodging.
Opened in 2008, the Center aims to introduce individuals to shooting sports and encourage interest across all levels of experience. The home of the USA Shooting National Team since 2019, the Halter Center hosts USA Shooting skeet and trap nationals and Junior Olympic development camps and championships. The Center is also the home of Hillsdale’s national championship-winning shotgun and action shooting teams. The Center is open to the public, offering range memberships as well as classes, camps, and other programming focused on the shooting sports and the principles of the Constitution.
