Hillsdale College Choral Scholars Perform ‘Sacred Treasures’ Concert
The Parents Weekend concert featured favorite choral works from the College’s weekly Evensong services.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Choral Scholars performed a Parents Weekend concert on March 7 titled “Sacred Treasures.” The concert featured favorite choral works from the College’s weekly Choral Evensong services in Christ Chapel.
“Many of the parents and benefactors who make the Choral Scholars Program possible aren’t able to attend our weekly Evensong services,” said Timothy McDonnell, director of sacred music. “We put together this special Parents Weekend concert, featuring some of the treasures of sacred music, to thank them for their support and to give them a glimpse of what their students accomplish.”

The performance included ten works ranging from “Agnus Dei” and “Sing Joyfully,” composed by William Byrd in 16th-century England, to Piers Connor Kennedy’s “Epiphany” from 2019.
The Hillsdale College Choral Scholars Program is the resident ensemble of the College’s Christ Chapel. The program is open by audition to musically talented and academically competitive students, offering individualized instruction, scholarships, and opportunities for high-level performance. The program focuses on sacred music, and students help lead choral worship services in the chapel as well as performing regular concerts.
