Hillsdale College Choral Scholars Program Announces Fall Schedule for Choral Evensong
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Choral Scholars Program will hold weekly Choral Evensong performances this fall. The choir will be led by Associate Professor of Music Timothy McDonnell. All performances will be held in Hillsdale College’s Christ Chapel and are open to Hillsdale College faculty, staff, and students as well as the local community.
“The Chapel Choir is excited to continue this beautiful tradition of sacred music,” McDonnell said. “Music has the power to inspire reverence and help us turn our attention from ourselves to God. Evensong is an opportunity for people from the college and the community to pray, reflect, and worship God together.”
Choral evensong is a centuries-old traditional Anglican service that features scripture, choral music, and prayers. Hillsdale’s weekly Choral Evensong services are led by the Hillsdale College Choral Scholars Program, the core of the Hillsdale College Chapel Choir.
“This season, we’ll be emphasizing the sacred classics of choral music, including a sacred music concert focusing on Schubert and Jomelli,” McDonnell said.
