Hillsdale College Features Sculptor Anthony Frudakis
Hillsdale College continues 2024-25 Professional Artists Series with nationally recognized sculptor.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College is holding an exhibition of the work of sculptor Anthony Frudakis, the second installment of its Professional Artists Series for the school year. Students and community members can visit the exhibit in the Daughtrey Art Gallery through Nov. 20.

“Anthony Frudakis has a keen understanding of the physical form of his subjects as well as a rare ability to perceive and capture the deeper nature that animates them,” said Julio Suarez, chairman of the Hillsdale College Art Department. “This gives his sculptures a beauty that goes deeper than realism alone.”
A nationally recognized sculptor, Frudakis works in a modern, representational, yet classical mode, drawing inspiration from his Greek heritage and the Golden Age of Greek sculpting. Bronze figures, both human and animal, are his milieu. Frudakis is also an associate professor of art at Hillsdale College, where his statues of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Ronald Reagan, James Madison, and Socrates are displayed prominently around campus.
The Daughtry Art Gallery, located in Hillsdale’s Fine Arts Building at 81 East College Street, is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
