Hillsdale College Halter Center Surpasses 500 Members
Memberships include discounted range access and other benefits depending on membership level.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center recently surpassed 500 annual members. Memberships begin at $125 per year and include discounted access to the rifle and pistol ranges as well as other benefits depending on membership level.
“It is exciting to share Halter’s world-class shooting facilities with members of the public,” said Range Director Matt Little. “First-time shooters, multiple-time Olympians, and everyone in between can improve their skills and enjoy the shooting sports at the Halter Center.”
“Our goal is to make the Halter Center a premier destination for marksmanship training and recreation in every season.”
The Center’s shooting facilities include eight American trap fields, five international/Olympic bunker trap fields, four international skeet fields, a 25-station sporting clays course, and an enclosed and climate-controlled five-stand range, as well as an international archery range. The Center’s Ailes Action Shooting Range features five 30-yard pistol bays, a 40-yard pistol bay, and a 100-yard rifle range.
A 62,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor rifle and pistol complex will be completed this fall. The complex will feature a 10-meter air rifle and pistol range, a 25-meter indoor archery range, a 50-meter outdoor pistol and rifle range, and a 50-foot retractable-target pistol range. Additional membership opportunities will be announced with the opening of the new facility.
“With the completion of our new indoor/outdoor rifle and pistol complex this fall, the Halter Center will soon offer year-round shooting opportunities across all disciplines — shotgun, pistol, rifle, and archery,” Little said. “Our goal is to make the Halter Center a premier destination for marksmanship training and recreation in every season.”
The Center welcomes visitors year-round and features the AcuSport Grille, located inside the AcuSport Lodge. Open to both shooters and the public for lunch, dinner, events, and catering, the Grille offers a menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. For more information, visit acusportgrille.com. About the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center
The Halter Center is a state-of-the-art shooting facility located five miles from the Hillsdale College campus. The Center boasts 113 range acres, four international skeet fields, a 25-station sporting clays course, eight American trap fields, five international bunkers, an action shooting range, an enclosed and climate-controlled five-stand range, and an international archery range. The Center also features the AcuSport Lodge and Grille and six cottages to accommodate overnight lodging. A 62,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor rifle and pistol building will be completed in summer 2025.
Opened in 2008, the Center aims to introduce individuals to shooting sports and encourage interest across all levels of experience. The home of the USA Shooting National Team since 2019, the Halter Center hosts USA Shooting skeet and trap nationals and Junior Olympic development camps and championships. The Center is also the home of Hillsdale’s national championship-winning shotgun and action shooting teams. The Center is open to the public, offering annual range memberships as well as classes, camps, and other programming focused on the shooting sports and the principles of the Constitution.
