HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s Halter Shooting Sports Education Center will host its LaPorte Reagan 5-Stand Winter League Jan. 21 through Feb. 28. The five-week tournament is open to any shooter with at least intermediate-level experience.
“We’re excited to welcome community members to the Halter Center to enjoy camaraderie and competition this winter in our heated 5-stand building,” said Jonathan Calabrese, clay shooting sports program manager at the Halter Center. “It’s a great way to enjoy the shooting sports and get some practice in even while it’s cold.”
“We’re excited to welcome community members to the Halter Center to enjoy camaraderie and competition this winter.”
Participants may shoot Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m. or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tournament will take place in the Halter Center’s Drummond 5-Stand Building. Shotguns will be available for rental, and ammunition will be available for purchase. Intermediate level experience is required, as no instruction will be provided.
Participants will shoot 50 targets per week, for a total of 250. The course of fire will be changed each week. There will be no makeup day, but the lowest score for each competitor will be dropped. Scoring will utilize the Lewis Class System, in which participants are divided into classes based on their scores in the tournament and then ranked within their classes. Winners will receive cash prizes.
The cost of the tournament is $25 per week, with a 10% discount for participants who pay up front. There is also a $50 cash league fee for the Lewis payout pool.
