Hillsdale College Hosts Spring Parents Weekend
Parents met with professors, conducted mock interviews, and attended various campus events.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College welcomed parents to campus for Parents Weekend March 6-8. The College hosts Parents Weekend each semester as an occasion for parents to visit their students, engage with the campus community, and learn more about life and education at Hillsdale.
“We appreciate all of our Hillsdale parents, and it is a joy to welcome them to campus each semester,” said Maree Socha, director of parent relations. “Parents Weekend is a special time for them to connect with their students, each other, and our campus community.”

The highlight of the weekend is parent-faculty conferences during which parents are invited to meet with professors to learn about their students’ courses and performance. Hillsdale’s independence from federal funding makes possible these conversations, which are forbidden in federally funded institutions unless the student consents.
“Parent-faculty conferences are rare in higher education, but they enable meaningful partnerships between parents and professors,” Socha said. “A Hillsdale education is both challenging and rewarding, and inviting parents into the journey ensures students are supported with the encouragement and resources to thrive.”
Over the weekend, parents had the opportunity to attend various events on campus, including a Choral Scholars concert, a performance by student chamber ensembles, an open house for the new Nimrod Complex at Hillsdale’s Halter Center, and the Tower Players production of the musical “Big Fish.” Hillsdale College Career Services also invited parents to conduct mock interviews with students interested in their career fields.
