Hillsdale College Hosts Violinist Aaron Berofsky
Berofsky performed a concert with his son Charles and gave a masterclass to several Hillsdale students.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Music Department hosted violinist Aaron Berofsky on March 29. Berofsky taught a masterclass for several violin students and gave a guest recital, which were both open to audience members from campus and the community.

“It was an absolute delight to host the Berofskys, and their recital was certainly one of the high points of our performance season,” said Daniel Tacke, chair of the Hillsdale Music Department. “The program included an engaging variety of repertoire, masterfully curated, and their performance was absolutely captivating in its technical brilliance and expressive delivery. It is a splendid thing to be able to bring such world-class musicians to our campus.”
Berofsky’s recital included works by Mozart, Eleanor Alberga, Robert Schumann, and Manuel de Falla. He was joined for the concert by his son Charles Berofsky, an accomplished pianist currently pursuing advanced studies in Germany.
Berofsky also gave a violin masterclass for several Hillsdale violin students, which audience members from campus and the community were invited to observe.
Aaron Berofsky has toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad. He has performed the complete cycle of Mozart violin sonatas at the International Festival Deia in Spain and appeared in Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Het Doelen, L’Octogone, the Teatro San Jose, and the Museo de Bellas Artes. He is professor of violin at the University of Michigan and chair of strings at Chautauqua Institution.
