HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Music Department Student Chamber Ensembles performed in Christ Chapel during Parents Weekend on Feb. 24. Students, faculty, staff, families, and members of the community attended.
“It’s great to have an opportunity to share this music with an enthusiastic audience.”
“The Parents Weekend chamber concert has become a strong tradition over the last few years,” said Daniel Tacke, chair of the Hillsdale College Music Department. “Chamber music is such a vibrant form of musical expression, and a chance for our students to really hone their ensemble skills. This has been a growing area of activity for us, and it’s great to have an opportunity to share this music with an enthusiastic audience.”
The concert featured ten short performances by ensembles mostly ranging from two to six students. Ensembles included harps, strings, woodwinds, vocals, and the Joy String Quartet, as well as the Hillsdale College Chamber Choir. The groups performed a variety of pieces, from classical works by Mozart and Beethoven to an excerpt from an opera by Donizetti to contemporary music from “Game of Thrones” and “How to Train Your Dragon.”
