Hillsdale College Receives President’s Award for Academic Excellence
NCAA recognizes Hillsdale’s high graduation rate, academic success
Hillsdale, Mich. – Hillsdale College announces its Chargers athletics program was honored with the 2018 President’s Award for Academic Excellence from the NCAA for the fifth consecutive year.
“We are extremely proud of our student athletes and the success they achieve on the field and court, but even more proud of the excellence they achieve academically,” said Don Brubacher, director of athletics. “It is our goal to provide the opportunity to develop the heart, mind, body, and soul of every student athlete, and this award is encouragement to continue those efforts. It is inspiring to see them rise to the challenges they face in our rigorous academic environment, and also realize the outstanding support they receive from our faculty and administration.”
The NCAA’s President’s Award honors colleges and universities with a 90 percent or higher Academic Success Rate (ASR) of Division II student-athletes. ASR is defined as the percentage of athletes who graduate within six years of their enrollment, including transfer students and students who do not receive athletic scholarships.
Of the 27 schools which received the award this year, Hillsdale tied for second place with a 97 percent. Hillsdale was one of only two colleges in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference to receive the NCAA President’s Award this year, the other being Cedarville University with a 92 percent ASR.
