Hillsdale College Student Activities Board Hosts Annual President’s Ball
Seniors Zachary Ponraj and Madelyn Hornell were selected as king and queen.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Student Activities Board hosted its annual President’s Ball in the Searle Center on Feb. 8. Seniors Zachary Ponraj and Madelyn Hornell were named President’s Ball king and queen.
“They exhibit the love of Christ on campus and represent the graduating class of 2025 in both their commitment to their studies and loyalty to their friends.”
“President’s Ball is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Ingrid Dornbirer, Director of Student Activities. “I could not be prouder of my student team and their outstanding work. They work diligently and joyfully to pull off a massive event that is hugely successful year after year.”
The President’s Ball, which is held in conjunction with President’s Day each year, was Casino Royale themed. Students wore formal attire, including floor-length dresses for women and suits and ties for men. The event included dancing, food catered by Metz, mocktails, live music from the Jerry Ross Band, and a photo booth.
Seniors Zachary Ponraj and Madelyn Hornell were crowned President’s Ball king and queen. Ponraj, a history major from Tacoma, Washington, is the director of external programs for Academic services and CEO of A Few Good men, one of Hillsdale’s GOAL volunteer programs. Hornell, an English major from Fort Worth, Texas, is the student director of the Writing Center and vice president of Hillsdale College for Life.
“It was a privilege to see Zach and Maddie receive recognition for their impact on Hillsdale’s campus,” Dornbirer said. “Both of them are not only driven in their academics but are genuinely kind and caring people. They exhibit the love of Christ on campus and represent the graduating class of 2025 in both their commitment to their studies and loyalty to their friends.”
A faculty panel selects the President’s Ball king and queen from a court of ten students nominated by faculty members. President Larry P. Arnn announced the winners, and he and his wife Penny danced with the king and queen.
