Hillsdale College Student Takes First Place at National Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College student Ryan Young took first place nationally for Best Production Director of a college radio station at this year’s virtual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Awards on March 5.

This is WFRH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM’s fifth-ever national first-place award from IBS. Nine other students previously were named finalists in seven categories at this year’s honors. Additionally, WFRH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM was named a finalist for “Best College/University Radio Station (under 10,000 students).”

“I am very proud of the hard work that Ryan put in at the radio station and am happy that he received this great recognition. That goes for all of our nominated students,” said Scot Bertram, lecturer in journalism at Hillsdale College and general manager of WFRH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM.

The IBS awards are open to all college stations across the country. IBS presents awards each year to college and high school media outlets across more than 100 categories. A full list of IBS winners is available here.
