Hillsdale College Welcomes Kyriakos Tsakopoulos to Its Board of Trustees
Tsakopoulos joined the Board in May.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College recently welcomed Kyriakos Tsakopoulos as a new member of its Board of Trustees. Tsakopoulos joined the Board at its May meeting.
“The Hillsdale College Board of Trustees has governed the College in advancing its mission since 1844,” said Rich Péwé, chief administrative officer and secretary to the Board. “Mr. Tsakopoulos will help continue Hillsdale’s noble tradition of service to sound learning, the cultivation of high moral character, the teaching and practice of the Christian faith, and the freedoms by which these are made possible.”

Kyriakos Tsakopoulos serves as co-chairman of AKT Investments Inc., a family-owned real estate investment company headquartered in Sacramento, California. Tsakopoulos is active in higher education and civic affairs. He assisted Hillsdale College with its plans to locate in California, beginning with Hillsdale’s Roseville Tower Theater, which opened in 2025. He is a trustee emeritus of the California State University System and Columbia University as well as chairman emeritus of the UC Davis MIND Institute. He also serves on the boards of the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Air Squadron and as an archon/knight commander of the Holy Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Tsakopoulos received his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College and Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. An avid airplane pilot and sportsman, Tsakopoulos resides in his hometown of Sacramento, California, with his wife Brianne and their three children.
