Hillsdale College Welcomes New Faculty
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College welcomes seven new faculty members to campus for the 2024-2025 school year.
“We are excited to have these new members join the faculty of Hillsdale College,” said Chris VanOrman, provost of Hillsdale College. “The College exists to offer an outstanding classical education to all persons who wish to learn, and we are grateful to have these new faculty members join us in this mission.”
The College welcomes:
- Kiralyn Brakel, assistant professor of biology
- Luke Foster, assistant professor of government
- Kevin Gary, associate professor of education
- Joshua Patch, assistant professor of education
- Paul Schmitt, associate professor of chemistry
- Oliver Serang, assistant professor of computer science
- Daniel Slonim, assistant professor of mathematics
Kiralyn Brakel received her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University (2020) and her B.S. from Hillsdale College (2015).
Luke Foster received his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Chicago (2022 and 2019) and his B.A. from Columbia University (2015).
Kevin Gary received his Ph.D. and M.Ed. from Loyola University Chicago (2005 and 2000) and his M.A. and B.A. from Notre Dame (1997 and 1992).
Joshua Patch received his Ph.D. from the University of Dallas (2023) and his B.A. from Biola University (2014).
Paul Schmitt received his Ph.D. from Purdue University (2016) and his B.A. from Hillsdale College (2012).
Oliver Serang received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington (2011) and his B.A. from North Carolina State University (2006).
Daniel Slonim received his Ph.D. from Purdue University (2022) and his B.S. from Hillsdale College (2016).
