Ten Hillsdale Students Named Finalists for College Broadcasters, Inc. Awards
HILLSDALE, Mich. — Ten Hillsdale College students during the 2023-2024 school year have been named finalists for the national College Broadcasters, Inc. Awards.
“I’m very proud of our students for these well-deserved honors,” said Scot Bertram, general manager of WRFH/Radio Free Hillsdale 101.7 FM. “Our students are driven to create high-quality audio content, and it is rewarding to see others recognize what we’re accomplishing at WRFH.”
CBI receives hundreds of submissions in 33 categories. Finalists are among the top four in their respective categories.
The following Hillsdale students and alumni were named finalists this year:
Lauren Smyth ’25: Best Newscast or Sportscast (Lauren Smyth News)
Gavin Listro ’25, Bella Dix ’25, Ally Hall ’25: Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program (I’ve Got Aux)
Evan Mick ’26: Best Sports Reporting (“The Life of a Kicker”)
Logan Washburn ’24, Ty Ruddy ’26, Alex Deimel ’25, Erin Osborne ’25, and Jane Kitchen: Best Documentary Long Form (The Prison Games)
The first-place winners will be announced in October at the CBI convention in Seattle. Hillsdale College students have received four national first-place awards from CBI over the years.
