Kyle Murnen

Biography

Kyle Murnen was appointed chief staff officer in 2024. A 2009 graduate of Hillsdale College, Murnen earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in classics. Upon graduation, he began working in the College’s Admissions Office as a counselor. After a few years, he joined the President’s Office staff, where he assisted President Larry Arnn with research and special projects. Concurrently, Murnen enrolled in the Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship, earning his M.A. in 2016.

In 2019, he assumed the role of director of Online Learning, overseeing the College’s online courses program. Over the course of the next five years, Murnen helped build the program into a robust teaching and outreach effort that has served more than four million students.

Murnen is married to Courtney Yeutter Murnen, also a 2009 Hillsdale graduate. They have five children. In his spare time, Murnen enjoys coaching his children in sports.
