Spotlight on Dr. Dwight Lindley, Associate Professor of English

Dr. Lindley summarized his philosophy of literature in this way: “The way that I tend to teach and think about literature is as a doorway to everywhere. It gives you an imaginative path into the things we care about that we have a hard time living with and thinking about. It is going to take us deeper into life, or else it is not worth doing.”

Physics for Everyone

In a lecture for Physics 100, you might find yourself watching video clips of Neil Armstrong land on the moon, or laughing over Double Rainbow Guy, or observing your professor blowtorch a strip of metal. Hillsdale introduced this new physics class into its core science curriculum last year.

“Only at Hillsdale” is a pretty common phrase at the College. Sometimes said tongue-in-cheek and typically accompanied by either an eyeroll or a laugh. But it makes sense that a group of students who power through the same core classes, share professors, and live in such close community can relate to one another so easily.
