Four Facts about D.C.

This article is part of a semester-long series following Aubrey Neal’s experiences in the Washington-Hillsdale Internship Program (WHIP). WHIP provides Hillsdale College students the opportunity to participate in semester-long internships in D.C. while taking classes at Hillsdale College’s Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center.

Dr. Anthony Swinehart

By the time he was eight, Anthony Swinehart knew that he wanted to study aquatic biology. His determination was hardly surprising—he had spent the first years of his life fishing the waters of a nearby lake, where ample opportunities for adventure and investigation piqued the interest of a curious young boy.

Derek Fields

Senior Derek Fields is one of Hillsdale’s most accomplished students to emerge from the economics department. Currently a part-time student, Derek spends the remainder of his time working remote for CrossFit, a fitness company based in Santa Cruz where he worked this past summer, as well as training at the CrossFit gym in Jonesville.
