Hillsdale College Graduating Senior Commissioned by U.S. Marine Corps

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College congratulates Meghan McKeogh on her commission to the U.S. Marine Corps. The college hosted an outdoor ceremony at the Civil War Soldiers’ Monument on May 13 to honor McKeogh’s achievement and willingness to serve.

Hillsdale College Hosts Alumni for Third Annual White & Blue Weekend and Honors Distinguished Alumni

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College held its third annual White & Blue Alumni Weekend from May 18 to 21. “The White & Blue Weekend is meant to bring old friends back to campus and to honor some of our most distinguished alumni” said Colleen McGinness, executive director of Alumni Relations. “This year’s weekend was a hit. We are pleased that it continues to be popular and enjoyable for alumni and their families.”

Hillsdale College Grants Honorary Degrees at Commencement Ceremony 2023

HILLSDALE, Mich. — At its 171st annual Commencement ceremony on May 13, Hillsdale College awarded Honorary Doctorate of Public Service degrees to Bishop Robert Barron, who addressed the graduating class of 2023; Elizabeth Ailes; and Alan N. Taylor. Hillsdale College President Dr. Larry P. Arnn awarded the honorary degrees.

Hillsdale College Hosts 171st Annual Commencement Ceremony, Welcomes Keynote Speaker Bishop Robert Barron

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College celebrated its 171st Commencement on Saturday, May 13. The college has held this ceremony annually since 1860. Robert Barron, bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester and founder of Word on Fire, delivered the keynote address, and the college conferred honorary degrees and recognized top academic graduates.

Students Jonah Apel, Elizabeth Crawford, and Maggie Hroncich took first, second, and third place, respectively. Their essays were written on the topic: “What is the right relationship between the news media and free political institutions?”

Hillsdale College Receives A+ Financial Grade from Forbes

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The financial health of Hillsdale College received an A+ grade on the 2023 College Financial Grades report issued by Forbes. Hillsdale was one of 71 schools to receive a perfect 4.50 financial GPA and one of 111 schools to receive an A+.

Hillsdale College’s Paul Hosmer Receives Emily Daugherty Award for Teaching Excellence

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The 2023 Emily Daugherty Award for Teaching Excellence was presented to Paul Hosmer, chair and associate professor of physics. Faculty, students, and friends of Hillsdale College recognized Hosmer at Spring Convocation on April 13. “Paul Hosmer is an excellent teacher and very deserving of this honor,” said Hillsdale College Provost Chris VanOrman. “The college is proud to have him as a distinguished member of our faculty.”
