Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s Office of the Provost and Department of Rhetoric and Public Address hosted the 22nd annual Edward Everett Oratory Contest on March 8. Five student finalists presented classically modeled, original oratories on “Individual Rights and the Common Good in American Education.”

Hillsdale College Mock Trial Teams to Compete in National Championship Tournament

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale’s Mock Trial “A” Team qualified to compete at the final round of national competition hosted by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) after a successful opening round championship series (ORCs). The team competed against more than 500 teams from university programs across the country without divisional separations.

Hillsdale College Varsity Pistol Team Wins National Titles

The Hillsdale Action Shooting Team earned its first national championship at the Scholastic Action Shooting Program’s College Nationals in Talladega, Alabama. The competition, which took place on March 12-13 in Talladega, Alabama, was the team’s first national competition as a varsity team. The 10-person team includes students ranging from sophomore to senior. Three team members are military veterans.

Hillsdale College Hosts National Leadership Seminar, “America’s Uncertain Future”

Hillsdale, Mich. — Hillsdale College hosted a National Leadership Seminar (NLS) titled “America’s Uncertain Future” in Naples on Feb. 23-24. The two-day event featured speakers from across the country speaking on topics including election polling, race in America, and the importance of protecting citizens’ rights.

Irish Folk Band Takes the Stage at Hillsdale College

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Visiting folk band Goitse (go-wit-cha) recently brought a taste of Ireland to the Hillsdale College Campus. The quintet performed on March 8, as part of their 2022 U.S. tour and the College’s Professional Artist Series. Students, faculty and staff, and community members attended the concert in Markel auditorium.

Hillsdale College Community Health GOAL Program Hosts Blood Drive

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Hillsdale College’s Community Health Great Opportunities for Assistance and Leadership (GOAL) volunteer program held a blood drive at the Searle Center on Feb. 28. About 80 students, staff, and faculty plus members of the Hillsdale community came to donate. Donations contributed to local health initiatives.
